Kasumi Haruno, a fourth‑grade student, travels to Kasumi Town to say goodbye to her zoologist parents before they depart for Africa to conduct research. In the town’s center, surrounded by forest, stands the large Kasumi family mansion where Kasumi will stay. As she passes the mansion’s gate, a strange atmosphere emanates from the forest. Upon arrival, she discovers that the mansion’s appliances can talk, and that the Kasumi family is actually a clan of Henamon, a type of youkai. Kasumi never imagined she would end up living with a family of Henamon, but she quickly takes on the chores of cooking, laundry, and cleaning in exchange for the home.
