Ryuu, also known as Crying Dragon, is a mysterious figure who frequently plays mahjong with members of a local gang. He only achieves victory by means of a “ron”, the action of claiming an opponent’s discarded tile to complete a winning hand. In mahjong terminology, “ron” is also referred to as “naki,” which shares its pronunciation with the word “crying” in Japanese. This anime adapts Nojo Junichi’s manga, which was serialized in the 1980s–1990s.
