Dr. Yung, an enigmatic Pokémon scientist, has created a Mirage system that uses computer data to resurrect extinct Pokémon such as Kabutops and Armaldo. He invites Professor Oak, Ash, and his companions to the Mirage Mansion to demonstrate the machine’s capabilities. During a battle between Ash and Dr. Yung’s Mirage Pokémon, the machine malfunctions, allowing a Mirage Aerodactyl to swoop in and abduct Dr. Yung. A man who calls himself the Mirage Master then appears and claims that the Mirage System can produce Pokémon with absolute immunity to weaknesses. Ash, Misty, and Professor Oak must fight to thwart the madman and escape alive.
