After a surprise dip in a cursed spring during a training trip in China, martial artist Ranma Saotome and his father Genma find themselves transformed. Ranma changes into a girl whenever he is splashed with cold water, while Genma becomes a panda. Their new forms create chaos at the Tendou Dojo, where Soun Tendo is ready to introduce one of his three daughters as Ranma’s fiancée. Long ago, Genma and Soun had arranged this match, but Akane, the daughter, and Ranma are not exactly thrilled with the idea, or with each other. Gender‑switching, jealous outbursts, and martial‑arts battles unfold as they navigate their complicated circumstances.
