Takasumi Takane is an eleven‑year‑old boy who has been promised a brand‑new bicycle if he ranks within the top 100 on the upcoming entrance exam. He receives the bad news that his score places him 112th, so he tells his mother he finished 92nd and tears up the answer sheets to conceal the truth. While returning from cram school, he accidentally crashes the old bicycle that was meant to be handed down to his little sister, Tamaki. Tamaki is furious, accuses Takasumi of lying, and he begins to see her as a nuisance. One evening, on his way to a shrine to search for his missing dog, Chris, Takasumi meets a young man named Yoyogi. Yoyogi is in possession of a test sheet marked “92nd” and proposes a trade, but threatens to return the sheet to its original owner if Takasumi refuses.
