East Tokyo United (ETU) has struggled in Japan’s top football league for several years, spending everything it has just to avoid relegation. Fan support is beginning to dwindle. In a bid to reverse the trend, the club hired the slightly eccentric Tatsumi Takeshi as head coach. Once celebrated as a star player, Tatsumi abandoned the club years ago but has since proven himself managing an amateur team in England’s lower divisions. The task is formidable: ETU faces opponents with larger budgets and stronger squads, yet Tatsumi is renowned for his expertise in executing giant‑killing tactics.
